The bed and breakfast is located in a historical building, Palazzo Fischetti, built at the end of the nineteenth century in order to host the oldest and most prestigious hotel complex of that time: the “Grand Hotel” was inaugurated in 1873, in the former Piazza Cappellini, now renamed Piazza Falcone.

The hotel was built with parochialism by Rosario Fischetti on the existing silk weaving factory, with a project of Engineer D’Agata.

Don Fischetti’s whish was to offer a comfortable accommodation to the visitors to Catania and according to some historical works many illustrious people, including Italian and foreign kings and ministers chose the Grand Hotel during their stay in Catania: the Italian Prime Minister Benedetto Caroli, the powerful German chancellor Otto Von Bismark, the actress Sarah Bernhardt and many more.
